STATEMENT
I explore urban architectural themes in my artwork.
I am fascinated by both iconic elements, such as utility pipes, poles, and conduits, as well as the broad perspective. Most paintings start when I am walking or riding through town, and am charmed by the way a tangle of wire or maze of cement comes together. This moment turns into photos, sketches, and eventually a painting.
City structures become metaphors for the relationship of the individual to the whole. Whether painting highway interchanges or the ubiquitous canopy of powerlines over a neighborhood, I explore the implied connection of many.
Color choice reflects my emotional response to each location.
INSPIRATION
I respond strongly to abstract expressionists’ work as well as to representational painters like Sheeler, Bechtle, and Thiebaud. My undergraduate practice emphasized drawing so I incorporate drawn elements and varied mark-making into my paintings.

BACKGROUND
Born into a family of musicians and artists, I practiced art my whole life. After getting my Studio Arts BA, I expected to continue creative work in the office. This dream stuttered, as five years passed in a publishing house cubicle.
Since starting and running KibbyMega Designs, I’ve prioritized my favorite creative expression - painting. To this end, I joined the Cricket Engine Art Collective where I rented my studio space in a warehouse on the Oakland Estuary.
I paint regularly, show and sell my work.
I recently moved to a wonderful studio in UC Davis, where I am pursuing my MFA.
I am a member of several local art associations: Pro Arts, Berkeley Art Center, and ACCI Gallery, and participate in local shows.
